From White to Black: The Final Thrill of the Harvest

Here we are at the most awaited moment: the transition from white grapes to red grapes.
When the first dark clusters are harvested, every farmer smiles: it means the harvest is entering its final stages.

The red grapes immediately stand out among the leaves, more visible than the whites. But caution is still needed: gloves must stay intact and scissors handled carefully, because in a single moment they can cut through gloves, staining hands black… a color that lingers for days, an indelible reminder of hard work and joy.
The most daring (like Jacopo in the photo) choose to harvest without gloves, carrying the marks of vineyard labor on their hands for days almost like a medal… rebellious spirit or simple laziness? Who can say?

And then the magic happens: every dark berry promises body, intensity, and deep aromas.
Here at Palazzo Centofanti, we close the harvest with our beloved Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, a child of sun, soil, and Abruzzo tradition.
The red grape harvest is an explosion of energy: the air smells of earth and must, the buckets fill with color… and we are happy to move, day by day, toward the end of the harvest.
Every full bucket is one more step closer to the finish line.
